As I was a mom with one child with me, and other babies in the cradle, I worked 12 hours a day sanding flooring and tearing off wallpaper. Ha! It was all falling in place, yet we were nowhere near done. The house would need an enormous amount of work and a love of shopping. To keep in my budget I took my kids along with me as I searched for hidden treasures at estate sales. The weekly ritual was that we would walk through garage and estate sales on Thursdays and Saturdays buying a mixture of antique and brand new furniture. I then spent working on my projects on our front lawn. The look was a little similar to the following... This is where my obsession with the restoration of antique furniture began. After our home was finished, I didn't want to quit! In the market in town, I rented a small space and sold some objects. In the end, I had so many pieces I didn't think of a solution and I outgrew my space. Then I began hosting open houses in my home which saw over 1 000 guests could visit in a single weekend and could purchase anything they wanted on the ground floor. Growing Days is the result of all this. While my company grew as did our family. In some ways, I found the ideal balance between being a mum and starting my new venture. Growing Days was the obvious decision. In 2013, my lovely daughter Nora joined our 4th kiddo. My business was booming however I needed a break. I made the decision to take some break from my antique furniture and slow down to stay at home with the children. That was exactly what I was looking for at the moment. After a while, without a phone, it began to ring. They asked for my help in interior decoration as well as renovations. A majority of them were people who visited my home during my furniture open houses. As I went along I added new clients to my list one by one. It wasn't too long before I had several clients, and had a successful home remodeling business. It is likely that I'd have laughed had I had been told that the company was to become part of a forthcoming TV show that airs on the DIY Network. As I reflect at it, it has made me laugh.
